Graceful lines across acres

The beautiful serpentine lines of this low wall, welcomes one into the property even before there are any signs that there is a home over the hill. This perfectly laid low wall makes use of the hill country limestone, freshly quarried, with the warm rust tones of iron deposits.

  1. beautiful work- interesting to see how it is done in other countries. Here in Catalonia it was mostly done by necessity- clearing the rocks to have a place to plant crops ( olive and almond trees, grapevines, wheat). The walls are preventing erosion during heavy rains- and the left over stones were used to build temporary shelters for the workers.
